Well done all!

As for NRT being blocked- the bare faced NERVE of them JH.. seriously, the cheek.. probably no harm tho while you settle in!!

K, get rid of the muffins. you'll end up consuming more calories than you burned. and you dont even want it you said! woman!!!!

i'm being very restrained alright, arent i. well proud of myself. i just really dont want to gain any weight while i'm 'out of action'. i did have a tub of haagan daz on sat, but was purely medicinal as my stomach was in ribbons from the morphine.. also i ate out twice last weekend but was good on the carbs- which helps- just had steak with veg and salad 1 of the nites, and cod with salad the other nite.. and no dessert..

gagging to get back running to be honest, but it'll be another 10 days, have to get the stitches out first :( Gloves are off after that

would love to be doing that mudrun thing, sounds like FUN!

I havent read this thread for ages so well done to everyone for keeping it up. Ive lost 1 and half kilos in 3 weeks... its slow but its coming off.

I had lovely homemade vegetable soup for dinner with some brown bread last night, and im having the same tonight with some chicken breast thrown in.

I was stuffed after it :)

Ive started running a bit while im walking as well but my foot is still not back to normal. But ill do it slowly :)

But I'd promised myself one! See, I was desperate to have one yesterday but I told myself that I couldn't cos I hadn't been gymming. So I had to have one today cos if I don't treat myslef on my on days then I'll end up treating myself on my off days and that just wn't do at all. Plus..... One has to keep a promise wonka!

Noticed today how much my stomach has gone down and the bit of flab around the hips has definitly gone, I now have smooth outline. :D

Not been doing much excercise apart from the samba dancing and the bit of walking. I've been focusing mostly on diet. Have not had a chip or spud in a month, and I dont even miss it.

Will be trying on dress again saturday so fingers crossed zip goes up.

Started my 'couch to 5k' running on Wednesday, gym yesterday for strength training and ran again today. Broken toe is still a bit sore, but I was getting cabin fever and really jealous of everyones progress, so I said f**k it and started anyway. Not eating any rubbish or desserts and trying to keep the carbs down.

Hey well done Lolly! That's really great, I am delighted for you.

After a bad week last week, I kicked myself up the ass this week and got moving again. I joined the gym in work now too so I can use that some days, its really handy although it is kind of small. Good for those days I don't have time to go to my local gym in the evenings. Its all about convenience for me - if it ain't convenient the chances are I'll make up some excuse.

Anyway I've got the 5 k run in two weeks time. I am feeling pretty good about it. I ran 4k yesterday easily enough and I know I could run 5k - however I was still interval training (running for 5, walking for 1 min) so I am going to increase the intervals over the next two weeks as I don't want to be the last one over the line. It took me about 32 mins to do the 4k on a treadmill so I am estimating at that timing it will take me nearly 40 mins to do the 5k which is too long really. I'll see how it goes.

I haven't lost weight though at all but I feel a little more toned.....I have not eaten the best really the last couple of weeks but I haven't pigged out either and I had only 2 glasses of wine this weekend (!!!).

Can I join in...on the getting fit part anyway, I can't be bothered policing my food (I stick to a healthy balanced diet most of the time) or measuring pounds ounces kilos inches bodyfat or BMI etc. but I do like to monitor my fitness!

At the moment I run on the beach about three times a week, only very short runs though, swim half a mile 2-3 mornings a week, play squash/racketball 2-3 times a week, do yoga once a week (can't afford any more even though would like to!), and walk EVERYWHERE as Aber is small, so its about 2-3 miles per day, at least half of which is up steep hills and millions of steps.

I'm chuffed at the moment as I've just got over the half mile swimming so I'm working on pushing that up to a mile over the next 10-12 weeks, want to be able to run for longer so need to build up stamina, need to increase my upper body strength, forward bends and right-side balance in yoga, and I'm cleaning up my bike so hopefully will start cycling a few miles every weekend now the weather is lifting. SO they are the things I want to monitor, at the moment my overall fitness seems in pretty good shape but I want to monitor improvements (and track the ones in swimming and yoga I'm focussing on) here with you guys

Haha, sweet, the pool is longer than I thought so I've been swimming .6 not .5 miles - pushed to 40 lengths this morning.

Anyone have any suggestions for improving my tricep upper body strength? I despise weight lifting, but would the backstroke or using more bacjhand in racketball or something help? thats where I'm weak

Well I am demotivated big time. I have not only put back on the weight I lost, I've gained a pound. I mean granted I haven't been able to exercise at all - hell I've been in pain just walking – and I've been comfort eating and not watching my points at all. :( Really frustrated that I can't run, but at the same time I wouldn't have gained any weight if I'd just thought about what I put in my mouth! So I'm on a mission now.

I want to be nice and light when I start to run again as that will help reduce the pressure on my back and hips. Actually LMP, reading back what you say about not wanting to watch your weight - have you thought that for the majority of people being lighter actually makes them fitter, as you can do more? 'Cause I used to think like you, but then I realised I was kidding myself and that, while it's not about how you look, thinner generally does equal fitter (unless you're at the 6 stone end of the scale)

Well when I said I couldn't be bothered, I didn't mean I wanted to change my body shape/weight or anything purely through exercise, I guess I just meant that if my body stays the exact same looks wise thats fine, I'm only concerned with improving my fitness - for enjoyment really, I can be very competitive with myself! - and if my body does change somewhat becaue of that then thats fine too. I am very mindful of what I eat but thats just because I feel better - healthier and better enegy and stull, with a balanced diet. So far today I've had porridge, and a small salad with chicken, sweetcorn, pasta, tomato and blue cheese, and dinner will be rice with the rest of the chicken breast and some stir fried brocolli, red onion, pepper and petit pois. I do think of what I eat fuel-wise, like if I'm running I'll have a banana just before usually. anyways I'm rambling...I do presume that over time I will get lighter anyway and that will be part of the reason my fitness improves - sort of natural progression I suppose that just comes with a certain lifestyle.

I can feel my trousers are a wee bit looser today, I've stopped counting points and feeling guilty if I go over. Instead I'm just being sensible... eating balanced meals. So If I have a huge breakfast I have a small lunch and small ish dinner. At the moment I'm at home so to be honest I've been having brunch then dinner - or a little bit of fruit in the morning. I'm cleaning the house or researching or knitting/reading - I don't need to have a big breakfast then a big lunch to keep me fuelled. In order for me to go to the supermarket it's a 40 minute round trip so I'm getting a good bit of exercise too.

I'm going to try to go by size as opposed to weight - I have plenty of size 12 jeans to get back into :D

More importantly, carrying excess weight makes you prone to all sorts of disease. For instance, fat feeds cancerous tumours. fact!

I wouldn't imagine it would do much good, if it did any good at all.

I haven't run since last Sunday week!! And I'm nowhere near reaching the 4K run that you are Joanneh - I'm in deep trouble if I don't kickstart myself soon! I'm going to fight my demons, wrap up warm and get out this evening, I'm just gonna have to

Just knelt down to pick something up this morning and got a pain just to the side of my left knee. It's been nagging me all day so I hope it's not going to cause probs!

Goldi do you think you could keep up the exercise once the prog is finished?
