No Red Tape

I'm having a look at a couple of houses just to see whats on the market at the minute and see what i can afford, etc.... But it amazing how some estate agents are still acting as if the housing market is booming! I just mailed a couple of agents from daft asking if I can go to a few viewings this saturday and one guy (who I'd sent 3 mails to) wrote back to say that one particular house had gone sale agreed and literally "take care" was his sign off instead of regards or thanks for your interest.... So I replied about the other 2 houses asking if I could see them on saturday and he replies to say he can show me one on friday afternoon and "Re: 45 xxx Road, saturday doesn't suit". What a TOOL! So I just replied to say thanks so much for getting back to me. I'd be half inclined to write to his boss to be honest. I don't think he gives a toss about the houses he's supposed to be trying to sell.

Just to give you a better picture of how things are at the minute, one estate agent picked me up from work on my lunch break yesterday and drove me out to see a house. Another one rang me when I was late for the viewing and after I apologised profusely for missing the appointment he re-arranged it straight away. I mean, they don't need to bend to a pototential buyer's ever whim but this plank couldn't even be bothered to reply to my mails! The agent I met last week wasn't exactly friendly but she was there, showed me the house, knew practically nothing about it but was able to find out the answers to my questions. I just can't get over this fella!

I think some of them only got into it when there was no selling really involved. It was just a case of show the potential buyers around and then wait for the bidding war to begin. And those are the ones now who are completely at a loss as they haven't a clue how to generate some interest and guide a buyer towards making a decision.

Absolutely, I've met about 4 or 5 of them now and you can really tell the difference between those who've been trained or have a genuine interest in property and those who don't. I don't think it would sway me one way or the other, I mean I'm still parting with a considerable amount of money so I'll take my time with the decision but a little enthusiasm from some of the estate agents out there wouldn't go amiss!

Incredible. Absolutely incredible. This is the hangover from our rich years-lazy people in jobs they shouldn't be in.
